a look back in time...

Keoki Brewing was founded by George “Keoki” Wells in 1998.

Hawai’i Nui Brewing bought Keoki Brewing in May, 2007 because, like so many other local residents, we loved the great taste of Sunset Amber Ale and Kaua’i Golden Ale.

There are several goals for the new look.  We want to:

  1. Honor our inspiration, the natural beauty of Hawai’i

  2. Reinstate the name, Kaua’i Golden Ale, which had been lost along the way

  3. Let our beer to look as good as it tastes

  4. Clarify the difference between the two ales for our visitors

The Hawai’i Nui Brewing packaging brings you the same great taste inside a new look.

KEOKI HAD different looks for the same products

Strange but true...

Visitors were confused by the colors of the old packaging.  We used to sell our amber ale in a blue six-pack, and our golden ale in a red six-pack.  In the on-premise establishments, the tap handles were the opposite colors.

No big deal, or so you’d think.  But what those who live here take for island style informality was puzzling to visitors.

A bit of detective work revealed that visitors would often sample a Sunset Amber ale in a bar or restaurant, look for something red in the supermarket or package store, and take home a six-pack of Kauai Golden Ale by mistake.

With the new packaging, it will be impossible to confuse the amber ale and the golden ale.
